New and Improved Girls Club

At the end of July, with the help of International Service and Fistrad, CBR facilitated the coming together and hosting of the Girls Club opening Celebration event in Sandema, which saw dignitaries, local officials and prominent members of the community come together to support the new community girls club. The promotional event was deemed a success with well over 100 girls attending the event and causing quite a stir in town with our marching band procession. As many as 50 further girls, of ranging ages, signed up to girls club which has proved how just how necessary the venture has proved to be.
The Women’s Board and Girls Executive meetings are continuing every Tuesday to bring the women and girls closer together and to work as a team to formulate responsibilities, codes of conduct and a constitution for the club. In the coming weeks we are to finalise the session plans for the coming 12 weeks. All this information will be included in a policy document for the club which will act as a reference point and a guide for it’s members and contributors.
The Girls Club will meet at 2pm every Saturday at the Sandema Kindergartens School. All girls in the community are encouraged to register and attend if they would like to get involved.
